I'm going to Disneyland!!!!

That's right, folks! I'm going to Disneyland compliments of my wonderful in-laws!! In honour of Derek's birthday (today) and of all 3 kids graduating from High School or University this year, they are treating us all to a trip to the happiest place on earth! And we're going in under a month! Reading week is where it's at! No long line-ups from the Americans on Spring break. So glad they are giving me something to actually blog about. Too bad for my work! I'm taking this weekend off and a bit over a week for that just 2 weeks afterwards! I'm using a lot of exclamation marks. I have been to Disneyland once before, but I was only 3 so I don't remember too much.
P.S. I'll be sure to take lots of pictures for all of you!

You better bring your appetite

We (the Vriend clan) are going to Golden in6 sleeps!! I was put in charge of baking, so I started that today. I made some Yummy Oatmeal Toffee Crunchies that I told you about back in November, and some frozen peanut butter cheesecakes. These definately in my top ten favorite snacks/ desserts. I'm so excited to see all of my family again, all together. It's becoming quite rare to get us all in one room now.

And for those Anonymous commenters on my last post, here is a bit about our wedding:
  • My dress is a Maggie Sottero design, although it is now discontinued. I got it in Calgary.
  • I was very blessed with photography at our wedding. My Uncle Arie and my Brother-in-law Dustin took beautiful candid shots, and Shutterbug Photography took our professional shots. Although she now moved to Kelowna and someone else has taken over her business here in Lethbridge.
  • I was in love with my flowers. Flare'N Flowers in Picture Butte did them, and I would DEFINATELY reccomend them to anyone in the Lethbridge area. I just wish I had remembered to ask someone to hang and dry them while I was on our Honeymoon... I miss them.
  • As for thank-you cards, my Maid of Honour recorded all the gifts we received at our showers, and who gave them, and we did the same when we opened our wedding gifts. I had a list of addresses of everyone who was invited to our wedding online with our account at www.weddingchannel.com.
  • Speaking of www.weddingchannel.com , I would definately reccomend getting an account there. It was so useful for getting ideas, And most of all for setting and keeping a budget with their budget calculator. And also for keeping track of the guest list, and invitations and thank-you's sent. Oh and also the Planning Checklist. It's nice to be sure you are on track and are not missing any of the big things.

  • And Susan, I don't know if I have any design tips. I don't think design can really be generalized, I think each space is unique and needs different treatment. I am really inspired by the show "Design Inc". I personally prefer lighter, more neutral walls and open, airy spaces. But I also appreciate dark colour schemes... Its just not what I would use in my house. I can't wait until I can design and build (not personally build of course) our own house someday. After school I wasn't too sure if I had picked the right career for me.... I guess I was just kinda sick of all the school assignments. But now I can't wait to get into the real workforce.. Retail will do that to you, I guess.

Blogging topics

I've never been that creative. English was my most loathed subject. I'm a math-science person. With my boring life, I have nothing to blog about. So I'm stealing Elizabeth deVries' idea and asking my readers for topics. Is there anything about me that you would like to know? Stories you would like to read? Anything. This is for you, folks.

Nothing Happening

We have settled into a new routine, Travis' new semester and me back at work. I must say, Trav has a pretty slack semester. It kinda sucks working all day knowing that he only has one class, and then gets to do whatever he wants. Days off are pretty busy, running errands and cleaning and all sorts of stuff. I mish we didn't need money, but then, who doesn't?? I have nothing to complain about.

A friend of mine from work got Chloe a t-shirt! Here she is wearing it, and playing with Toby.

Good 'Ol Sunfire

I GOT MY CAR BACK!!! After 2 months + (I can't even remember exactly how long anymore) in the shop, my car is finally fixed! AND they only charged us for like 4 hours of work, even though it took that long! Turns out that a sensor they had put in in the beginning was already damaged, so they finally tried anouther one, and some wiring was messed up. But I have it back now!!! No more minivan for us!

I'm watching season 1 of Grey Anatomy.. a friend from work lent me seasons 1 & 2, and it's great seeing the episodes I had missed!

If you haven't seen The Pursuit of Happyness, DO IT. DO IT NOW. Travis and I saw it on Sunday, along with his mom, I mean our mom, and his brother. It was seriously amazing. And I don't even get that hyped up about movies. But I don't want to hype it up too much, either. I just loved it. And I cried. But that could be because I'm hormonal. Go watch it, or at least rent it when it comes out. And bring kleenex.

Winterland

Travis and I just got back from a wonderful trip to Summerland... or Winterland because of all the snow.. Here are some of our highlights:
1. Meeting sweet baby Olivia. She is SO snuggly, cute, chubby and just a wonderful baby. I hogged her and showered her with kisses and snuggles. I didn't take many pictures while there, so I don't have many good ones of Ben or Megan, but they were also SO cute, and I love being their Aunty Becky. They kept us busy and entertained.

2. Spending time as married couples with Dustin & Christy. It's great how the dynamic changes now that we are all married. 3. Being reminded how alike my sister and I are. It was so fun goofing around with her. Travis kept laughing when Christy would do something exactly the way I would do it. It's great that we still share that after not living under the same roof for over 6 years.

4. Sledding. Travis and Dustin built the "Death Ski".... 'nuf said. Looked fun. I had fun going down a couple times and taking pictures. Travis and I almost died on the kneeboard.... good times.

5. Meeting some fellow bloggers in Summerland. Amanda and Steph, you girls are great. Maybe we can hang out more when Travis and I retire there.... maybe.

The last picture is of a bit of a "lowlight" if you will. The trip home was filled with an hour long lineup west of Golden waiting for the highway to re-open. Not so fun.
